Janus
Janus is an AI assistant inside ManageMemberships, labeled Beta. Ask it a question in plain words and it answers: why a member can't get through a door, how a member's billing looks, or how a feature works.
Janus is in beta. Check anything important before you act on it.
Finding Janus
Open your profile menu and click Janus (Beta).
Only owners and managers can use Janus. Staff and accountants don't see it. If you are an owner or manager and don't see Janus (Beta) in your profile menu, Janus isn't available for your gym yet.
Asking a Question
Type in the box that says Ask Janus about your gym… and click SEND, or press Enter. Press Shift+Enter to start a new line without sending.
Click New chat to start a fresh conversation.
Two Ways to Use Janus
Help pages only (the default)
Until you turn on your gym's data, Janus answers how-to questions from these help pages and from click-through demos. It cannot see your members, billing or doors.
With your gym's data
With your gym's data on, Janus can look up members, billing, door access, classes and how your Squeeze Pages are doing for your gym only.
- Open Janus and click Use my gym's data too.
- Read the explanation.
- Tick the box.
- Click TURN ON JANUS.
This applies to your whole gym, not just you. You can turn it off any time by clicking Turn off.
Changes Need Your Approval
Janus never changes anything by itself. It can only prepare a request, for example a refund, activating a member or awarding points.
Each request waits on the Approvals page, which you open with the Approvals button in Janus. An owner or manager looks at each one and clicks Approve or Reject.
Nothing changes until someone approves it.
Privacy
Janus uses a third-party AI. Before anything is sent, names are replaced with anonymous IDs and emails and phone numbers are removed. The link between those IDs and your members stays on our servers.
- Member ids and IP addresses are removed too.
- You still see real names in Janus's answers.
- The AI provider is outside the United States. The box you tick to turn on your gym's data says so.
- Janus can't look up prospects or family members on someone's account. Their names are removed before anything is sent, and Janus will point you to the Prospects CRM page or the main member's account instead.
Janus may not recognize a misspelled name or a nickname, and it can't recognize a street address. Avoid typing personal details like addresses into the chat.
Example Questions
- How do I set up a class pack? (works with help pages only)
- Why can Jane Smith not get through the front door?
- How does Sam Lee's billing look?
- How many people signed up through my Free Trial squeeze page this month? (Janus gives you the numbers, not the names. To see the people, use View submissions on the Squeeze Pages screen.)
