Training
Training is an add-on for gyms that coach members. A coach builds a program of workout days and exercises, picks the members who are their clients, and assigns each client a program. Members then log what they actually did from their member portal, and their coach can see it.
Training is off by default. An owner turns it on from the Marketplace.
Turning It On
- Go to Settings → Marketplace.
- On the Training card, click Enable.
- Click Turn on in the confirmation box.
An Add-ons menu now appears after Calendar, with a Training link.
Who Can Coach
Coaches are:
- Owners
- Managers
- Staff who have the Trainer or Available for Classes checkbox ticked on the Staff page
Only coaches see Training in the Add-ons menu. Other staff and accountants don't see it and can't open its pages.
The Trainer or Available for Classes checkbox isn't shown on Free and Basic (Starter) plans. On those plans, only owners and managers can coach.
Programs
Go to Add-ons → Training. The Programs tab lists your gym's programs.
A program has a name, an optional description, and a length of 4 to 6 weeks.
Creating a program
- Click New program.
- Enter a Name and, if you like, a Description.
- Set Length in weeks, from 4 to 6.
- Click Create. The program opens so you can add its workout days.
Adding workout days and exercises
Click Days & exercises on a program's row. You land here automatically after creating a program.
- Click Add workout day. Choose the weekday and, if you like, a title such as Lower body. A program can have one workout day for each weekday.
- Under the day, click Add exercise. Enter the exercise name, the sets and reps, and optional notes.
- Add as many days and exercises as you need.
- Click Save program.
The same weekly plan repeats every week of the program.
Editing and deleting a program
Click Edit on a program's row to change its name, description or length, then Save changes. Click Delete to remove it.
A program that a member is currently on can't be deleted. Assign that member another program first.
Clients
Click the Clients tab. It lists your clients with each one's Current program and Current week.
- A trainer sees only their own clients.
- Owners and managers see everyone's clients, with a Coach column.
Flagging clients
- Click Flag clients.
- Owners and managers choose the Coach. A trainer flags clients for themselves, so they aren't asked.
- Search for and pick one or more Members. Only active members can be picked.
- Click Flag clients.
Unflagging a client
Click Unflag on the client's row and confirm. The member stops being that coach's client. If that was the member's last coach, their current program ends too.
Assigning a Program
- On the client's row, click Assign program.
- Choose the Program and the Start week.
- Click Assign.
The program starts on the Monday of the week you pick. For example, picking any day from Mon 2 Nov to Sun 8 Nov starts the program on Mon 2 Nov.
A member has one current program at a time. If the client already has one, the box shows it and you need to tick End the current program and start this one before you can assign. The old program ends and its history is kept.
The Current program and Current week columns show where each client is, for example Week 1 of 4, or Starts Mon 2 Nov if it hasn't started yet.
Viewing Logs
Click View logs on a client's row to see their current program. For each week and workout day, it lists every exercise with the planned sets × reps next to what the member logged, or Not logged. Later weeks show Upcoming.
A trainer can open logs only for their own clients.
For Members: the Training Page
When a member has a current program, a Training link appears in your member portal menu. It opens their Training page, at /my-training on your portal. Members who don't have a program don't see the link.
On the page, a member:
- Chooses the week with the arrows. They can go from week 1 up to the current week, but not into the future.
- Taps a day chip to choose the workout day.
- For each exercise, enters the weight (optional, in lb), the sets and the reps they did.
- Taps Save. Once an exercise has been logged, the button reads Update.
Saving again changes the same entry. A member who missed a session can log it late by choosing an earlier week.
The page is designed for phones.
| Field | Allowed |
|---|---|
| Weight | 0 to 2,000 lb, or empty |
| Sets | 1 to 20 |
| Reps | 1 to 100 |
Good to Know
- Each exercise has one entry per week: one weight, one number of sets and one number of reps. There is no per-set detail.
- Any coach can edit any program in your gym. Editing a program also changes it for other coaches' clients who are on it.
